This teacher day will be dedicated mainly to chosen topics in AS Statistics course. The course will enable teachers to boost their subject knowledge and to get ideas on pedagogical approches in the classroom.
Programme:
9:00- 9:30 Arrival and registration
9:30- 10:40 Probability Distributions with the emphasis on Binomial
10:40 Break
11:00- 12:10 Hypothesis testing
12:10-12:40 Lunch
12:40- 13:25 Exploring the Large data set using technology (in the computer suite)
13:25- 13:55- Using the large data set to develop students’ interpretation skills
13:55- 14: 45 Collaborative planning
14:45 - Evaluation and feedback
Aims
- to develop subject knowledge and pedagogy when teaching Statistical Distributions and Testing Hypothesis
- to try out different activities using technology when teaching Large Data Set
- to provide teachers with some effective ideas to use when teaching statistics
Who will benefit from attending?
Current and potential teachers of A-level Mathematics who wish to boost ther confidnece in teaching statistical content of AS/A Level course.
