Coventry and Warwickshire A level Teacher Network

Using the Large Data Set

Coventry and Warwickshire A level Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of A level maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events and may include informal sessions.

AS and A level mathematics specifications require students to:

  • become familiar with a specific large data set
  • use technology to explore the data set
  • interpret real data
  • use data to investigate questions arising in real contexts

We will consider strategies that can be used to reference the large data set throughout the statistics course and how it can be used to give context to lessons.

Paul Chillingworth (AMSP Statistics Lead) will deliver this session looking at strategies and pedagogical approaches to teaching with the Large Data Set.
