Coventry and Warwickshire A level Teacher Network
Girls' Participation: Factors Affecting Participation in Level 3 MathsOverview
Coventry and Warwickshire A level Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing teachers of A level maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events and may include informal sessions.
Content
Fiona Kitchen (AMSP) will deliver a session to raise the issue of what affects a student’s decision regarding whether to choose maths at Level 3 and to look at strategies to encourage female participation in maths and further maths at A level and Core Maths. There will be time given for discussion and sharing of ideas. This session will be guided by findings from the Gender Literature Review carried out by UCL IoE (University College London's Institute of Education) on behalf of the FMSP.
