Liverpool KS5 Teacher Network

Creative Use of the ClassWiz Calculator in A-Level Maths

Overview

These meetings, led by Mike Baxter, will cover some of the overarching themes and curriculum in the new A level. They will be practical and hands-on, with a chance to explore resources and ideas as well as an opportunity to talk about issues that arise from the new curriculum. Topics to be covered this year include: exam papers, statistics, problem-solving, mechanics and further mathematics.

Content

THis session will focus on enhancing the use of popular 'ClassWiz' calculator in the A-Level classroom. A number of specific teaching ideas will be offered and discussed. Teachers will be encouraged to bring their own ideas to the meeting, and to identify areas where they feel the calculator could be used more extensively and more creatively.

Materials and Equipment

Teachers should bring their own ClassWiz if they have one, although several will be available to borrow during the meeting.
