A level Mechanics: Year 1 ContentGravesend, Kent
This is a one day course to help prepare teachers to teach the Mechanics part of the A level specification either for the first time or to refresh the subject knowledge of teachers who have not taught this application in recent years.
This day will focus on the Year 1 content and will include Modelling, Kinematics, Forces and Vectors and Variable Acceleration.
- To strengthen teachers understanding of the key mechanics topics in the 2017 AS level specifications
- To demonstrate teaching ideas and resources, including simple practical work and ICT, which will promote student understanding of mechanics concepts
Who will benefit from attending?
Teachers who are new to teaching Mechanics or have not taught Mechanics in recent years

10.30 - 11.30 Kinematics - Motion with constant and with variable acceleration
11.30 - 11.45 Refreshments
11.45 - 13.00 Newton's Laws of Motion - Statics and Dynamics
13.00 - 13.30 Lunch
13.30 - 14.45 Extending the Model - Projectiles and moments
14.45 - 15.00 Plenary and Evaluations
Materials and Equipment
Delegates will need to bring along a laptop for use during the day.
All teachers are eligible to apply, although priority will be given to teachers from state-funded schools.
This course is provided free of charge.
